Following an extensive search spanning several years to secure a contractor for the development of an off-grid cabin nestled in the remote northern reaches of Canada, our client opted to engage KMC Construction due to our proven track record in accomplishing objectives deemed nearly insurmountable by others. The Off-Grid Cabin project, while featuring a straightforward design concept, presented logistical challenges of unparalleled complexity, primarily owing to its location over 4 miles away from the nearest road access.

Recognizing the unique demands of the project, KMC Construction deployed its seasoned team of carpenters, embarking on a remarkable four-month off-grid endeavour that demanded an immersive commitment to tent-based living and camping conditions throughout the entirety of the construction process. With no pre-existing power infrastructure available at the site, our team adeptly navigated the challenges by relying on hand tools for over 70% of the construction tasks.

Moreover, a temporary road was meticulously constructed through marshy terrain, featuring a design engineered to minimize ecological disruption to the surrounding wildlife and vegetation. This feat was complemented by the manual transportation of all materials, necessitating the use of ATVs or foot travel along the rugged 4-mile trail leading to the site.
